What book will scare me and stick with me?

I'm looking for something that'll make me think and leave me with some lingering dread. I'm a big fan of the Silent Hill games and the movie Midsommar, and my favorite book is House of Leaves. The story that scared me the most was The Road Virus Heads North by Stephen King. I recently read A Head Full of Ghosts and I really liked it, though I found it only mildly scary. My one restriction is that I need something where the dog doesn't die. Pet death is too upsetting for me. Otherwise, I'm open to anything! Thanks!
