mainly horror, thriller, mystery, and suspense. I don’t like non-fiction, bad endings and slow-pacing. I also don’t like romance and sex, ok with gor and violence. I’m also looking for audiobooks with the same requirements.
Most books by Tony Hillerman should be good for straightforward mysteries with a little bit of implied supernatural spookiness.

The Last Days of Jack Sparks audiobook is good, excellent characterisation by the narrator.
The Plague Dogs by Richard Adams – from the point of view of two dogs that escape from an animal testing facility.

I’m going to say the cradle series by Will Wight. There is a couple but the books are not about their romantic partnership. It’s 12 books and it has a great ending. And the couple couples up in one of the later books. Also the Captain by Will Wight. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman.
