I love fantasy and sci-fi but the last few years have been really challenging for me mentally. I haven’t read a book in many years due to depression and am looking to get back into it but I feel ridiculous because I don’t even know where to start. I feel like a new baby all over again. I’ve read the Wereworld series, LOTR, and a few of the Percy Jackson. Anything along those lines would be fantastic. Thank all you beautiful people in advance and I hope you have an amazing journey 💜

    1. I’d maybe start with something YA, or just more fluffy and ease yourself into the high fantasy or epic sci-fi.

I loved Skyward by Brandon Sanderson, a really engaging YA Sci-fi with an interesting premise.
Or perhaps something like The Martian by Andy Weir as it’s got some humour?

For Fantasy I’d absolutely say to read The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J Klune, it’s just really lovely and wholesome. It’s definitely more of a cosy fantasy.

Howls Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones is a personal favourite fantasy. It’s technically a childrens book but I first read it as an adult and I still love it.
Another one that’s technically a childrens book but I love is Inkheart by Cornelia Funke.

For YA, maybe try Legendborn by Tracy Deonn or The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah.
