I've been in this book club with a group of friends for the past 4ish years and it started to kill my joy for reading. I thought it would be good exposing myself to things I wouldn't normally pick for myself, but it turned into a dread filled trudge-fest through books I have no desire to finish (I've recently accepted it's okay to not finish a book).
I read a lot DFW, Franzen, & DeLillo about 10 years ago – I recently revisited A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again and forgot how much I enjoyed reading that style of writing. I'm looking for other book/author suggestions in a similar vein. Thanks!
