My lovely friend is a big reader, she named her daughter after a famous character of 19th century literature, and has just been diagnosed with a pretty aggressive cancer. She doesn’t have a prognosis yet but I know that she’ll want to disappear into some great books, especially when she starts chemo.
I’d love some great examples of easy escapism, that are also optimistic and life affirming.
If needed, we can come to the more ‘acceptance of mortality’ stuff another time.
Books ive considered so far are bridgerton books (very silly escapism) or Anne of green gables (gentle and uplifting)
Huge thanks in advance
