Hello,
I'm looking for a fantasy (or possibly sci-fi book) that is really well written.
What I mean by this is good metaphors and no word repitition, well developped/balanced characters…etc. I recently read Song of Achilles and the writing was good, but for high fantasy a little too poetic maybe something a little more "down to earth"? I love love love nice descriptions as well. I've read LOTR and the Hobbit and they were awesome. I also liked the writing of Watership Down which I've read recently. OH! and I also read His Dark Materials and the writing/worldbuilding were PHENOMENAL (I adore the concept of dust and deamons and everything)
I'm looking for a kind of "adventure" vibe universe, but with nature in it too. (Because I started Mistborn a couple days ago and I just felt that the universe wasn't really what I was looking for – too depressing and gray- and I didn't like how it and the characters were introduced either- Idk I just didn't "connect" with it if that makes sense. I will pick it back up when I feel in the mood for a more "industrial" setting though)
I want a universe that I can lose myself in if you get when I mean… I do't mind and would even loe sci-fi as long as it's "well written". Powers are cool though and I absolutely don't mind cliche as long as it's well intergrated into the universe. Some Universes I LOVED are Middle Earth, Horizon- yes the video game lmao-, Wings of Fire – when I was younger but it still holds a dear place in my heart… and i love dragons (who doesn't??) … etc.
Romance is a great add-on but only if it's slow-burn I can't stand the quick, cliche and cheesy YA romances out there…
I don't mind gore/explicit scenes/trauma as long as it's done tastefully
Yes I'm aware I'm very picky, and if you've read up till here thank you!!
TLDR: Fantasy with a appealing universe (good worldbuiling) and skillful writing for a picky reader

Okay my list is going to be fairly long. As I rarely have time to read, I listen to a lot of audiobooks ( I have over 900) I will give them an hour to capture me, and if not, I stop. The list below contains series of books. If I’ve liked them enough to keep continuing, they’re worth my time. I highly recommend them all.
1. First Law Series by Joe Abercrombie. Absolutely fantastic.
2. Age of Madness series by Joe Abercrombie. Continuation of the First Law series but not necessary.
3. Beware of Chicken by Casualfarmer. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed these books. I took a chance because of the silly name, and WOW!
4. Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman. LitRPG (not my usual cup of tea) but again, I loved this series. Many lol moments, lots of action and very well written
5. Harry Potter of course. I loved the books, but I was not a fan of the movies.
6. The Hellequin Chronicles by Steve McHugh. Lots of action, magic and humor.
7. The Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearn. I am currently relistening to this series.
8. Nightlord series by Garon Whited. These are long and wonderful and I’m holding my breath until the next is released in this series.
