Interesting slice of life fiction?

I've almost always exclusively read non-fiction for as long as I can remember but recently I have the urge to read a fiction book.

I feel like a fantasy book wouldn't really interest me, however, a fiction book that follows the everyday life of someone interesting might be fun.

Does anyone have a book like this that they can recommend?
