If you've read this, please advise: would it be appropriate for an 11 year-old kid? I might read it to her, but I'd like to avoid reading it twice because my free time is very limited.
I'm four chapters in, and so far it seems great. That said, I've read several other of Eggers' works, many of which have instances of violence / sex, etc.
I'm ALL FOR these subjects appearing in print, and I've been very impressed by his work. Also, my kid is into scary stories (we just watched the 1990 version of IT) and can handle a decent level of upset… but I wouldn't read her Little Bee, yah feel me?
I'd love to avoid spoilers, so I'm mostly looking for either recommendations or, if necessary, oblique references or descriptions. Thanks!
