Looking for either the perfect book for the fall season or a book that will take me on an emotional roller coaster and have me staring of into space after finishing it.
I think *The Secret History* by Donna Tartt might scratch both of those itches. It’s very heavy on the (moderately) creepy fall vibes, and the main plot is so trippy and twisty that you just kind of have to sit with it a bit once you’re done.
*White Horse* by Erika T Wurth is more spooky and ties in elements of classic horror (there are multiple ties to *The Shining*, specifically) but it also deals with childhood trauma so it can leave you a bit emotionally drained afterwards.
