Just ordered these 4 books: Catch 22, Fahrenheit 451, Slaughterhouse Five and Brave New World.

I grew up loving to read but over time I’ve found myself reading less and less, it’s been genuinely over a year and a half possibly longer since I’ve last finished a novel. I want to rekindle my love for reading again so I ordered these 4 books and I’m excited to get stuck in, but which would you guys recommend I start with?

I have read a few chapters of catch 22 roughly a year ago, and was throughly enjoying it but I had unfortunately lost the book and just never got around to finishing it. So perhaps I should start with that, although I didn’t get too far into it and don’t remember too much.

Also would appreciate future recommendations, I enjoy all genres for the most part, although I was considering either the brothers karamazov since I’ve already read and enjoyed C&P, but also wanted to get into the lord of the rings series because I’m a fantasy geek and it’s currently the only popular fantasy series I have yet to read (haven’t watched the movies either and know nothing about the plot, want to experience the world through the books). Although feels free to recommend anything, last book I read was the snowman by nesbo and I liked that too.

Of these, Fahrenheit 451 is a fairly quick read, and I absolutely love it. It’s also aged considerably well given that it’s a discussion about censorship pre-internet.

Start with slaughterhouse five, its short and really good. The other three are also great. The good soldier Sveijk by Jaroslav Hasek is somewhat similar but imho better.

When in doubt, read books in publication order. That way if one influenced the other you’re getting them in the right sequence.
