Looking for a book for an academic paper

Hi all. I am a PhD scholar in India and I am planning to write a paper on disability studies. I wanted a book that I could contrast and/or compare to Oliver Sacks' A Leg to Stand On. Preferably an autobiography, written any time between 1930-1970. Help please! Thank you.
