Idk if this is the correct term to use but I’m talking about how much someone can read at a time without it feeling like a slog.

No matter how captivating a book, for some reason I find it to be a slog whenever it reaches a certain word count or I take a little bit too long to read it, it becomes a slog for me

I’m a pretty slow reader, so if a book is about 250k words, I can finish it in about two weeks. But for some reason, if the book is more than 250k, I find myself struggling to finish the book in that same time and it can take me much longer to read. That’s when it becomes a slog.

Idk if it’s because I’m spending too much time with the book or if my interest in the book has been slowly withering down the longer I read a book, but I find it very strange that this happens.

Does anyone feel something similar to this? And if so, does anyone have any tips to read bigger books without them feeling like a slog?

I sometimes experience the same thing and if I take a break from a book I rarely pick it back up again. Something I tried is reading 2 or even 3 books at a time. That way I can keep reading while not getting bored of a given story. Just rotate through them as you begin to tire of one.
