Hi I have been having trouble finding a good fantasy book or series to read, I find it hard to get invested in any I’ve tried.
Books I’ve read/tried:
I LOVED the keeper of the lost cities series by Shannon messenger.
I liked The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater, though I haven’t finished Blue Lily Lily Blue yet.
I love the hunger games series.
I enjoyed Harry Potter a lot as a kid though I’m sure it hasn’t aged the best.
I recently gave Dark Night Golden Dawn by Allison CarR Waecher and abandoned it by chapter 7 as i was bored and some of the scenes with a possible love interest felt like they were out of a bad fanfic and made me cringe.
Things I’d like in a book:
ROMANCE! I need ships to root for or I get bored usually.
Fantasy world building, I love magic systems and learning about fantasy worlds and how they work.
Mystery, I love interesting plots with plot twists, betrayals and cliffhangers if written well enough.
Diverse cast of characters! I want a lot of lovable characters who are all different. I also don’t mind if there’s alternating PoVs or not.
Some other minor things I find fun: enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, slow burn, major character death, murders, elves, dragons, found family, and probably many other things.
I’m fine with any rating, though I’d prefer it to be more serious so probably YA would be best.
I have no problems with any triggering topics being in the book, but if there is more mature content, I’d prefer it to be well written.
