books that AREN't like normal people/conversations with friends…
i haven't read those two but i'm tired of the millenial trope because it feels so shallow emotionally at times. i was going to pick up those books yesterday but the goodreads reviews swayed me against it.
just tired of reading about 20-30 somethings who only party and take downers and uppers and do the deed all the time – yes there is emotional nuance in those stories sometimes but i'm looking for something more realistic and tender and warm but painful to read. sorry if the aforementioned is realistic for some people it's not for me – i do relate to being lost in life and wanting to escape but there's something these books miss for me. i'm after complex family dynamics and trauma and stuff like that – characters with a good backstory is nice.
