My friend likes mythological creatures. I want to gift her a book related to it. Could you guys suggest me a book that contains stories of different mythological creatures from different cultures. ?
I loved *Beowulf* (the Seamus Heaney translation is my favorite). The monster, Grendl, is one the best written horror creatures ever, and you can see aspects of this creature in a lot of later mythological creatures (the story is from the 8th century), but not many people have read the book unless they were forced to in school.
*Circe* by Madeline Miller is a retelling of several Greek myths as they all relate to the life of one of the most famous witches in literature. Not only are there dozens of mythological creatures, but most of them are created throughout the witch’s life, so you get their origin stories.

Disclaimer: I haven’t read any of these.
*The Book of Imaginary Beings* by Jorge Luis Borges is the most promising, I think. He’s a wonderful author. There are a couple of translations out there, apparently.
*The Book of Fabulous Beasts: A Treasury of Writings from Ancient Times to the Present* by Joe Nigg is an anthology.
*Curious Creatures in Zoology* by John Ashton was first published in 1890, so it is freely available on Project Gutenberg. It’s also available as a physical book.
*The Book of Yokai: Mysterious Creatures of Japanese Folklore* by Michael Dylan Foster is a bit more of a book about mythology, but appears to contain lots of images and stories.

Something of a Tall Tale by Christopher C. Tyler, maybe? I’m pretty sure it’s on Amazon.
