I feel like I know all the obvious ones, but what is maybe a hidden gem that may be less known or not classified as gothic but checks most of the boxes for what a good gothic book is like? The one element I might give up is the creepy women, I’ll settle for creepy men or children 🙁
Happy with short stories too!!
Edit: obvious ones like Jane Eyre, Rebecca, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Wuthering Heights etc

Not sure if it’s an obvious one, but Monstrilio.
