I use to read a book a week back in school but I fear the internet has fried my attention span, so are there any books with REALLY captivating writing and an "edge of your seat" story ?? Something not too "wordy" to ease me back into reading again.

Here are some things/books I like to get an idea of what to suggest:

    • The Clique books series by Lisi Harrison was EVERYTHING to me in middle school so tell me if there's a more mature version of these books with lots of girly drama and secrets and upperclass elite people.

    • Junie B Jones and her very autistic coding was also everything to me as someone who might have autism so tell me if there's any similar books about an autistic [coded] or just quirky character

    • I like romance, I use to like the cheesy smut type but nowadays I want a romance to have a good story first and foremost. I'm tired of the romance books with zero substance. I want likeable and interesting characters and a good romance alongside it. preferably a romcom type that's kinda fun and silly but a straight up romance is fine.

    • I've been specifically trying to find a good fantasy romance. something set in a fantastical world with a romance like stated in my previous point. I'm talking monsters, supernatural, royalty, faeries, VAMPIRES I LOVE VAMPIRES SOMEBODY PLEASE GIVE ME A GOOD VAMPIRE ROMANCE (that's not twilight, not the vampire diaries) PLEASE, etc

    • and lastly a good mystery. I've never tried the mystery genre before so I need a good beginner mystery, something not too heavy and just kinda spooky like a scooby doo or goosebumps but not YA and more mature.

This was a lot but I hope to get some good recs, thank you.

    1. Charles Bukowski’s books are entertaining and easy to read.

I’d also recommend The master and Margarita which I’m currently reading
