Hello, I'm an older sister in her 20s looking for age appropriate books to buy my baby sister…
I need to buy her some so she'll stay out of my shelves and not stumble across books involving Gore and warcrimes (I'm an avid reader of murder mystery and world War 2 books)
I really want to avoid books that have emphasis on romantic relationships as we are from a fairly conservative family, however fantasy elements and magic is fine. So far she's enjoyed the Harry Potter series (though she's only read the first 2), she thorougly enjoys horror and mystery as well…

Sherwood Smith,
Tamora Pierce,
I loved The Secret Series by Pseudonymous Bosch, The Series of Unfortunate Events, The Candymakers. My younger cousin (8) recently read The Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series and said it was only a little too much for her, so that could be an accessible mystery/horror for younger readers although I haven’t read it myself. They’ve also made it a Netflix show
I loved the red wall series at that age, it may be a touch juvenile but they really are awesome stories and the animals engage in very similar (though goreless and sanitized) versions of your own books so it may make her feel like she’s reading similar stuff. It’s loosely about mice that run an abbey and go on adventures
Septimus heap series by angie sage.
