Basically the title, I want something where the setting is the character (or at least a character) or where the actual characters are vessels for a larger plot like a horror or mystery. Just trying to branch out from what I normally read.

The Woman in the Dunes by Kobo Abe. The setting is definitely a character at a certain point, and you become one with the sand.
