My recent binge of psychological thrillers started with Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney, then I moved onto Verity by Colleen Hoover, and I’m now roughly 1/3 of the way through None of This is True by Lisa Jewell.
I loved the first 90% of Sometimes I Lie and Verity, but the endings of both felt anticlimactic, like the authors couldn’t commit to an ending so left it up to the reader to decide. From the reviews I’ve read of None of This is True, I’m expecting the same outcome (though I’m absolutely still going to finish it).
Can anyone recommend some dark, gritty psychological thrillers that do have satisfying endings? I’m not concerned about specific triggers as the three I’ve read so far all have very dark themes (abuse/SA/murder/child death) and I’m coping fine.
I also really enjoy an unreliable narrator, but I like it if the ending at least hints to what is actually true instead of staying open.
