I feel like everywhere I look people are raving over Things We Never Got Over but tbh I think Knox is just as problematic as a lot of CoHo’s love interest. Made worse by the fact that he’s like 43
Knox is a sexist, immature, pretty much homophobic walking red flag.
– he avoids the bar when his employees are on their periods because he doesn’t wanna deal with “code red”
– he pees in his backyard???? Like with his dog??
– to his bisexual employee: “is it the bisexual part of you that wants to talk about f**king feelings all the time?”
– is CONSTANTLY making comments on Naomi’s body
– is always ordering her around pretty aggressively
– picks her up in the middle of the bar, doesn’t listen when she says put her down, KNOWS that her butt is showing through her skirt and instead of pulling her skirt down he just….. slaps her butt in front of the whole bar, including her parents
Also do not get me started on Naomi. She’s in her mid 30s and is constantly, quite literally, pouting over coffee. Please give me a break.
Also is everyone in this town dumb?? According to Naomi and Knox there are very obvious differences between Naomi and Tina (Tina had a very obvious boob job, her hair is bleach blonde while Naomi is brunette, they have completely different styles, and, of course, Tina’s skin is tan and leathery while Naomis is soft and pretty and pale), yet everyone gets them confused, to the point there are grocery store employees throwing deli meats at Naomi?

I hadn’t heard of this before, but my word it sounds dreadful.
Also I just want to add that if I worked at the bar with Naomi I would HATE HER. Constantly leaving early, crying in the bathroom, having sex with our boss in his office omg I would be outie
Also I have issues with Knox and Naomi having sex when like two doors down there’s a room full of preteen girls. Like can you wait for them to go home 😩

I did not like this book tbh, and I feel like I’m really not even that picky with romance novels. Usually even if they have a few cringey scenes or immature annoying moments I’ll still enjoy. But this one they were just too immature/ annoying, one of my least fave books lol.
If you don’t like their book don’t read them..easy as that. Some people love their books it’s all a matter of opinion.
I only made it through 30 pages of coffee pouting and townspeople being rude. It was unreadable.
I’m just here to defend peeing outdoors. If you have land, and privacy – why not? It has nothing to do with being sexist, homophobic, or problematic in any way.
Carry on.
I didn’t mind *Things We Never Got Over*. It was a light fun read.
The characters are weirdly believable because I personally know a guy who pees on a tree in his yard (don’t ask). I know a bunch of 30 something-year-olds who are addicted to coffee, have anxiety issues, and are insecure. I have heard men think of women as objectively hot and their fantasies, and vice-versa.
A bit of caricature makes the story more fun and colorful to an otherwise boring small town life. Also it’s a work for fiction, so the writer is free to take liberties.
The issue I have with Lucy Score is the recycling of plot. The sequel *Things We Hide From The Light* pretty much has a similar plot of boy and girl liking each other but are in denial until something big happens. It turned me away from buying *Things We Left Behind*.
If you didn’t like that book, don’t even bother with book 3, the mmc is even worse.
This book is terrible and I hated it. The characters are so one dimensional. The love story was so forced. Will not be reading anymore of her books. The bar is in hell.
This book was terrible i didn’t finish it and honestly wondered if it was written by AI
Thank you for the heads-up.
I don’t know what the hell this is but is this guys supposed to be a protagonist/love interest?
I got through about 5 pages of the book before I had to DNF. Her pouting about coffee and the god awful writing was a big nope for me
First book in a long time I had to give up in before finishing the first chapter
Yep. I DNFd when the brothers were brawling in their front yard. Like, these are 40-something “men”? No fucking thank you. Naomi would be better off on freakin’ Tinder.
I tried getting into her books but just couldn’t do it. Wasn’t a fan of her writing style.
I very rarely read CR, but I liked this one! And I like some CoHo stuff, so I guess it makes sense. Lol I like that it didn’t take itself too seriously. It was kind of silly and the characters were ridiculous. The coffee addiction gave me Lorelai Gilmore vibes.
That book was bane of my existence
I DNFed this book. Not only was it so slow and long for no reason, but there’s only so many times you can show me a love interest is an asshole before I’ll just believe you and find him irredeemable, no matter how “damaged” you try to make his backstory. Yuck.
>Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon. Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.
>
>There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones
The Goodreads synopsis alone is giving me flashbacks to the edgy edgelord she’s mine romance I used to read on Wattpad when I was *12*.
Finally someone speaking the truth about this book! Everyone and their mothers on booktok cannot stop raving about it. I love a stupid little romance here and there but this was extra cringy and just plain bad. The fact that it has 4.2 stars on Goodreads baffles me
Her books are so bad but also so entertaining to read
I do not understand the love for this book. I was new to romance when I read it so I thought it was just me and it actually launched me on a campaign to read as many romance books this year as I could to see if I actually liked the genre. I have read over 100 so far and it turns out I do like romance novels. I even like contemporary, small-town, alpha male novels, but I still I hate Things We Never Got Over.
I couldn’t finish the Kindle sample. It reminded me of the shitty books I read back in college (CoHo, Jamie McGuire, etc.). The characters in those books are always overgrown teenagers.
People get mad at CoHo but this writing sells. So who’s buying it? It’s not me, but I don’t really care. Fictional characters are not real. If you enjoy reading these abusive characters, then sure go ahead.
