I am a huge reader, and fantasy was my first love when I started reading. However, about two years ago I stepped away from fantasy to read more romance because it was easier to read during school and was something I could read faster. I have missed fantasy so much in the last 6 months and I really want to get back into reading it. It just feels so daunting to go back to fantasy when I know that it might take me so much longer to get through a book. Is there any books you can think of that would be strong on the fantasy elements, like I want some banger world building. But also not as daunting as something like Priory of the Orange Tree or the Stormlight Archive. In fantasy I love a good revenge plot and interesting magic systems. The Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks is one of my favorite fantasy series especially because of the magic system.

I’d suggest the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire. The first book is Rosemary and Rue. It’s urban fantasy so the world isn’t as daunting as high fantasy. Plus each book only gets better than the last.
Ennead by Elizabeth Vore. It’s an indie fantasy book but the world building is amazing!!!!
The Founding of Valdemar trilogy by Mercedes Lackey might be right for you.
Brandon Sanderson wrote some lighter Fantasy books that are good standalones (no long term commitment). I personally loved {{Tress of the Emerald Sea}} – it’s a play on The Princess Bride. Its a good re-entry into fantasy and if it hits the right spot you can dive into {{Yumi and the Nightmare Painter}} is excellent 👌🏾
