I know that Japanese books are commonly printed in A6 a lot, which I find much easier to carry as they’re smaller in size, another thing to note is that a ton of books in Japan are [right to left](https://imgur.com/a/c7UV0G3) with the text being written vertically while also being read from back to front.
I mean, what would happen if you published a book in the West in this format, what would people think of it? Also, why are so many English books larger than their Japanese counterparts, can’t they make them smaller and more compact to carry? Even if I managed to publish a Western book from right to left (like Japanese) with most of the text being vertical as well read from R-L what would the reading experience be like?
