Requesting your suggestions for non- Stephen King horror novels that are set in idyllic small towns.

Stephen King has a ton of these kinds of novels where there's some horrific ugliness lurking beneath the facade of an idyllic small town but I could never get into his writing style. I find the ideas behind his novels that fit that description to be compelling but his writing style just isn't my bag.
