Are there any books where the villain actually has a valid point for doing some of the stuff they did? I don’t mean “They had a bad childhood and that’s why they are evil” I more mean that they have tried to do things the “right” way but at some point they just broke and are just doing what they think is the only way to fix the world or nation.
Maybe the villain is leader a coup but only because the government was so corrupt that rebellion (with war crimes) was the only option available.
Or maybe they are a general (I don’t know much about military, sorry) and they are just doing their job and most of the time are actually chill.
Sorry if this is a lot to ask or if I’m not being specific enough, sorry.
