Any recommendations (or thoughts on if you think the last 4 listed would fit my preferences) are appreciated! Thank you 🙂

I really enjoy reading elaborately illustrated fiction. Things ive found and enjoy immensely include:

    -stardust by neil gaiman

    -dinotopia (and its sequels)

-voyage of the basset by james christensen

-the secret ocean by betty ballantine

    -(illustrated versions of) harry potter

Some honorable mentions ive found include:
    -abarat by clive barker

To clarify, I’m not interested in comics/manga. I really like how the story is independent of the images but the illustrations are colorful and elaborate and can essentially still tell the story.

I’d much MUCH rather books that have illustrations and text fitted together (as opposed to walls of text with separate pages of illustrations).

Some books i havent gotten yet but heard might be in line with what im looking for include:

-above the timberline by gregory manchess

    -timeless by armand baltazar

-the last hero by terry pratchett

    -books by brom

    Generally, i prefer fantastical/adventure fiction.

    1. Some that might fit the bill are *A Monster Calls* by Patrick Ness, the illustrated version, and books by Brian Selznick, namely *Wonderstruck*, *The Marvels* and *The Invention of Hugo Cabret.*

    2. Pratchett’s *The Last Hero* certainly qualifies. It has detailed Paul Kidby illustrations on every page that really add to the story. It’s a good story too.

I’m also going to mention *Eric* by Pratchett, but not necessarily recommend it. This one is illustrated by Josh Kirby. I’m not really a fan of his style, and there are a lot fewer illustrations. About 20 total. The story (a parody of Faust) is longer, but not as good as TLH. If you do go shopping for Eric it’s available both with and without illustrations, so be careful which you buy.

I took some pictures of both books a few years ago in answer to a different question – [here’s the link](https://imgur.com/gallery/PaK3QGm).
