So I'm looking for a good prison romance book, particularly one about an inmate and a person who's not in prison. I recently read "The Inmate" by Freida McFadden but was largely disappointed in the ending. I really HATE the trope of "person thinks person in prison is innocent, they get out and turns out to be guilty all along.
Most of the prison romances I've looked up seem to be cheesy erotica, but are there any that are more well-known? I don't want one that's cliched and is clearly written by somebody who knows nothing about the prison system or the justice system. I like a romance that shows the hardship of incarceration, the toll it takes on couples, and what it's like to love someone who's serving time.
