I’m reading Powerless and….

I'm immensely annoyed with the way that paedyn and Kai speak to one another. Their conversations are endless smirking,sarcasm, teasing and trying to be witty which fails to deliver as the dialogue just comes off as super cringe. It's also fake and unrealistic because real people don't talk with 'sarcasm dripping off their every word'. If this is the author's attempt to create tension, it's laughable because I'm having such a hard time taking either pae or Kai seriously. Their physical interactions are very forced as well. I don't mind banter like this if done in moderation, but if your character's every word is chosen to make them sound cool, it becomes extremely off putting.

My question is, do their conversations get any sincere and realistic within the next 100 pages or so? Please let me know so I can decide whether to put this book down or continue reading.<!
