I’m looking for a family saga book where I can dive into the lives of all the characters, regardless of the plot. I’m not really into mystery, thriller, crime, or anything related to grief. Reading about grief within a family is something I find difficult to handle. So, I’d really appreciate any recommendations that offer drama and allow me to follow multiple characters. It would be fantastic if there’s a romantic subplot or any love story involved. Any family saga books that fit this description?

The cazalet chronicles by Elizabeth Jane Howard is five novels that follow multiple generations from just before the beginning of WWII, to afterwards. there are patches of grief because it’s realistic, but the series is not *about* grief. it’s about the family.

The Elmwood Springs novels by Fannie Flagg. They are sweet and funny and follow a family from WW2 onwards. People occasionally die, but they definitely aren’t grief books

East of Eden by John Steinbeck. It’s amazing, I’ve not seen the film with James Dean and I can see how they did the book justice because I think they skipped the first half.
