Books where the narrator is a character in the future?

Hi! I'm looking for historical fiction (or related genres) where the narrator of the book is a character that appears in the book but is not involved in the events being narrated, especially if the narrator exists in the future as related to the events. The narrator is NOT the main character but rather very secondary to the story, i'm thinking like a teacher or professor telling a story to students and like we get glimpses of their interactions/impressions of the story without it being too distracting from the main narrative!

I know this may seem like a weird/oddly specific request but i sorta wanna write a story like that and i would like to see examples where it's well done!
