i am currently going through a breakup and am trying to become a better person because of it, i’m reading “how to be an adult in relationships” by david richo and i am enjoying its more spiritual aspects but these are a bit cheesy. i would like some more therapeutic books about the principles of relationships and intimacy etc. almost like a guide/instructional manual on how to approach the self or building the self so that one can be prepared for intimacy, i dont want books like “attached” because attachment theory is just one way to look at relationships, and i find viewing relationships through attachment theory is very superficial. and ive already read “the body keeps the score”, “maybe you should talk to someone”…

the book im reading also has a journal entry that someone wrote about her breakup, about how her ex partner is only a metaphor for her internal pain. something similar to that could be interesting too, because i love reading people’s personal journeys with this kind of thing.

i want books that are more all encompassing , spiritual yet evidence based views of relationships. for example i think john gottman is really interesting.
    anyone have any recommendations?
