Lit Fic books that sound like the books January and Gus write in Beach Read

I’m rereading Beach Read by Emily Henry and I am actually really intrigued by the books that January and Gus write. Gus talks about writing a book about cults while January writes about a travel carnival family.

Does anyone have any recommendations for books that give a similar vibe to these? Like literary fiction books with some secrecy, villainy, mystery, etc.
