Queer women’s literature:
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir — Award-winning sci-fi fantasy horror novel about lesbian space necromancers. Very well written, very weird and the first book in the brilliant Locked Tomb series.
Everybody in this Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily R Austin — Technically a mystery, kind of a black comedy, but mostly a novel about a young gay woman with crippling anxiety. One of the best books I’ve ever read.
Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo — It won the National Book Award for Young People, so this is technically young adult because it’s about a teenager. But really it’s a beautiful piece of historical fiction about the Chinese American experience during the Red Scare and butch/femme culture in 1950s San Francisco.
