What were some of your favourite books when you were a child?
Curious to see what you guys read when you were younger 🙂 For me, I loved the Pippi Long Stocking books and Astrid Lingren's other books too. I also love the Alice and Megan series by Judi Curtin. What about you guys?
I liked The Hobbit, Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, Harry Potter and The Secret Garden when I was around 9-12

Babysitters club, goosebumps, and Sideways Stories from Wayside School. When I was a little older 13-14, I discovered Anne Mcaffery and fell in love with fantasy.

I liked shel silverstein, jack prelutsky, dr suess (though his drawings probably contributed to some of my nightmares), clifford, the little critters series, the magic school bus books, the magic treehouse, bailey school kids, junie b jones, amelia bedelia, and ramona quimby. They always felt like a rare treat because we couldn’t afford to buy them, so I could only read them at school. When I lost my first tooth, my parents didn’t have a quarter, but someone (probably from church) gave my mom a book of mother goose rhymes and she left that under my pillow instead. I loved it.
Around fourth grade I got into goosebumps, animorphs, and the occasional animal ark. I read anything i could find by r l stine and then found white fang and call of the wild. Those still give me infinite nostalgia, even more than harry potter because I found them first

Loved anything by Jaqueline Wilson. She’s very popular in the UK, not sure about overseas. People love to look back now and think why was I allowed to read this because she’s a children’s author writing about massively dark and serious themes.

When i was about 11 I think my mom got me The World According to Humphrey, I had like two or three books of that series. I’m not sure if they were for younger kids than 11, but they were in English and it was my second language, so they were the first books in English that I read by myself (not mandated by school or read as a bedtime story by my mom). I had a pet hamster at the time so It was really sweet and I adored those books 🙂
Those were my second favorite books, my first favorite book was Dogs by Dr Bruce Fogle. I used to sit down and memorize the dog breeds, read it front to back and back to front countless times. I had animal planet autism and I still do lol
