I used to play a video game called Antistasi, which is about starting a rebellion with nothing, sneaking into police stations and stealing guns, and eventually having a full scale army with tanks and fighter jets and fighting an invading country.

Now I'm taking a break from gaming but I've enjoyed listening to audiobooks during my commute etc. So please recommend me, preferably a fictional book about insurgencies/rebellions etc.!

Preferably something set in a believable real world setting, or in a sci fi setting that makes sense and shows some complexity. Not something like The Hunger Games which has a commically dystopian government, or like star wars where all the rebels are always 100% the good guys.

Probably a tall order but I thought I'd still try to ask 🙁

    1. The Devils/ Demons by Dostoevsky.

It paints a fairly unfavourable (but incredibly realistic) picture of the revolutionaries. In some ways it predicted the Russian revolution.

It’s one of my all time favourite books. It is a very heavy read though. You might be better reading something lighter.
