I'd given up reading at the start of the year for a combination of things. I think the main factor is that I don't enjoy the books recommended on booktok, it feels like the community is more concerned about the amount of porn in the book compared to the actual quality of the book, and repeatedly reading books with too much sex just bored me, it felt like I was reading the same book again and again. And there's nothing wrong with wanting to read that, but I want to be recommended good popular books by people that value a good plot and unpredictable plot twists, maybe less romance and more of the other genres. I recently got gifted a book and it brought be back into reading, and it is a hobby that I value. However, I am not sure what community would be best for me.

Maybe you should try watching some book youtubers. It’s easier to choose and pick what content you want to see than on tiktok. There are many book YouTubers who read all kinda of genres and the long form content allows for more in depth reviews
The TikTok algorithm is pretty good. Everyone starts with mainstream BookTok, but if you keep engaging with TikToks you actually like, you should be able to find your niche.
I only get recommendations on fantasy, sci-fi, horror and classics, which are the genres I read most often.
