I recently finished this book and I absolutely loved it! I’ve already read Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, the Tenant of Wildfell Hall, and Agnes Grey and I think I liked Villette the most! It’s definitely a more mature and intricate novel compared to Jane Eyre. You can definitely tell how much Charlotte Bronte’s writing improved between the publications of both works. I especially found the introspective and observant qualities of Lucy Snowe to be super interesting. I could also heavily relate to the feelings she had of isolation and loneliness. Bronte explained these aspects so beautifully and accurately.
Does anybody have any recommendations that are similar to this book?
