I'm looking for recommendations of historical fiction type books to help 'set the scene' for a big road trip me and my wife have coming up to visit most of the national parks in the western US (Wyoming, Utah, Washington and California mostly). We're from new Zealand and have very limited knowledge of US history so I'm hoping to get books that will help give a greater appreciation for the areas we'll be travelling through.
