I am going to college coming August as a freshman, and I keep coming across reels on Instagram and Facebook about books and it's beginning to make me miss reading, as I used to be a huge bookworm.

I haven't found a book that even slightly piques my interest since I read The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice a few years ago. I haven't found one that even lives up to that series in my head's ranking, if that makes sense.

I'd deeply appreciate recommendations based on what I've mentioned thus far. I liked the hints of romance in The Vampire Chronicles, but I don't seem to care for strictly romance books or the supernatural books. But I didn't know where I could safely ask for recommendation on FB, as many people would look down on me for liking that series where I come from.

I'm stuck, honestly, and would really like help 🙁

*I also feel the need to say I do enjoy Victorian/gothic vibes in both books and movies (edit)

    1. A Million Tomorrows by Kris Middaugh (on Amazon) is a romance that isn’t spicy or gushy, with some sci fi elements. Might suit that romantasy-ish vibe for you.

If you want to venture out a little from that, a gothic thriller that I enjoyed was Madam by Phoebe Wynne. It was a wild ride that kept me hooked, with a little bit of mystery.
