Looking for some nonfiction books that tell a fascinating story or compelling event in the same vein as Killers of the Flower Moon or The Indifferent Stars Above.

Most of David Granns books are like this and I love them. Or like Douglas Prestons The Lost Tomb. I guess the motif is a journalist telling a series of stories that follow a theme. But less true crime and more historical or an oddity. Not sure how quite to put this, any suggestions?
