My mother has months to live and has moved in with me. I am usually a sucker for beautifully written literary fiction but I’m struggling to concentrate on any of the books I’m currently trying to read.
I think I would like a book I can escape into. It has to grip me from start to finish too.

Seanan McGuire’s *Middlegame* did that for me in late February/early March when I was caring for my dying father.
She is my favourite author and *Middlegame* is one of favourite books, so your mileage may vary.
