I’m looking for books similar to “Defending Jacob”, “We Need To Talk About Kevin”, or “First Day of Spring” vibes. Even something like “Saving Noah.”

It can be written from the point of view of the child or the point of view of the parent. Really anything with the child being either a killer, sociopath, psychopath, or even just the child having psychological issues.

    1. It’s only a small part of the book, but East of Eden has a chapter or two about Cathy that fits your description

    2. Justice by Faye kellerman.
      Plot: prom queen is dead.

      It’s three point of view

      The 16 year old suspect.

The cop who thinks he’s a cold hearted psychopath

The shy girl who knows more than she lets on

*The Fifth Child*, by Doris Lessing – although in many ways the child is given a very raw deal in this one. I plan to read Lessing’s follow up novel at some point, to see how she develops the character of Ben (the son) and presents his POV (instead of that of his mother, whose perspective the original novel presents). It’s a harrowing read.

*We Have Always Lived in the Castle* is another one that you might be interested in.

Gitta Sereny wrote an interesting book (issued under at least a couple of titles) about Mary Bell, a child who when ten years old strangled two very young children.
