Background on me as a reader F32: I plow through a good mystery like nobodies business, but struggle with other genres. I’m trying to branch out but don’t really know what to look for..
My favourite series of books are:
– Dan Brown (Robert Langdon)
– Kathy Reichs (Temperance Brennan)
– Allison Brennan (Max Revere)
I DNF’d 2 books recently at about the half way point:
– Nora Roberts: The Obsession (started great but the middle romance + world building bored me to tears)
– Bridget Jones’ Diary
I did, however, find Where the Crawdads Sing held me the entire book.
I just want to get out of the Mystery novel corner and have more variety to choose from, but my recent DNFs have me feeling a little discouraged.

Try Fantasy? Maybe something like Orconomics or The Wandering Inn.
Or try Sci-Fi? Something by Blake Crouch, Andy Weir, or Martha Wells? Or try Dungeon Crawler Carl.
The Amelia Peabody Series by Elizabeth Peters- first one Crocodile on the Sandbank. Historical/archeological mystery series.
Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. It has a lot of interesting qualities. It’s quasi historical, mythological, fantastical, a little mystery, philosophical, humorous, the characters are fun … I recommend it a lot to people who want to get into reading or are looking for a fun book.
