I've been rewatching the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and I love the way they're set in the real, historical "Golden Age of Piracy" but also incorporate so much classic pirate and seafaring mythology (the Flying Dutchman, the black spot, the kraken.)
Are there any novels that might scratch that same itch? I'd like something relatively modern and written for adults. I'm thinking James Clavell's Shōgun and Tai-Pan, but set in the golden age of piracy and with fantasy elements.
