Do you know any good books about telling the truth?

I find that personal integrity is a common struggle for myself and much of society these days.

I’ve caught myself lying about trivial things to inflate my status among friends, lying about skills & accomplishments on resume, even lying to family about events from our past.

In most of these cases the lies are “small” and don’t change the theme or outcome of what took place in any major way, nonetheless Im straying from the truth and I want to stop.

I just read a news article about a certain famous business mogul blatantly & repeatedly lying about easily verified details of their personal life. I don’t want to be like that man.

TLDR: I’d like to see a clear picture of an honest person, a character study on integrity. Also open to psychological analysis of lying and human behavior. Any books that will give me a better understanding of integrity and help me conduct myself in a better way.

      – There are loads, but I think *Confessions* by Augustine is a good one.

      – You might enjoy *The Culture of Narcissism* by Lasch.

      – If you’re interested in a philosophical analysis, this [book by Christian Miller](https://academic.oup.com/book/42101) talks about honesty and[ *Sincerity and Authenticity* by Lionel Trillig ](https://archive.org/details/sincerityauthent00tril)might be of interest to you.
