So I really enjoy books where like wildlife and biology goes against humanity. James Patterson’s Zoo and Zoo 2 were really good and then obviously Jurassic Park 1 and 2 were awesome too. I know Crichton does a lot of other books like that but I’m unsure where to start. Anybody have any recommendations?

    1. The Great Zoo of China by Matthew Reilly.

It is a secret the Chinese government has been keeping for 40 years. They have found a species of animal no one believed even existed. It will amaze the world.

Now the Chinese are ready to unveil their astonishing discovery within the greatest zoo ever constructed. A small group of VIPs and journalists has been brought to the zoo deep within China to see its fabulous creatures for the first time. Among them is Dr Cassandra Jane ‘CJ’ Cameron, a writer for NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC and an expert on reptiles.

The visitors are assured by their Chinese hosts that they will be struck with wonder at these beasts, that they are perfectly safe, and that nothing can go wrong…

Into The Drowning Deep by Mira Grant (Years after a mockumentary crew “looking for mermaids” disappears near the Mariana Trench, a large reinforced boat filled with scientists make the voyage out to discover and study the truth behind what happened)

Fragment by Warren Fahy (an island is discovered with a brutal eat or be eaten ecosystem- government researchers set up shop, to desperately figure out what the fuck is up with this alternate evolutionary line.)

Someone already mentioned Great Zoo of China, but I would like to do so again.

Beneath the Dark Ice by Greig Beck (the government finds a potential new source of oil in the Antarctic, and they send a research team down to confirm or deny it- but there’s some things down there better left undisturbed, hungry for fresh meat.)

    3. Leviathan James Byron Huggins

On an Icelandic Island, an illegal experiment intended to create the perfect biological weapon has transformed a once-innocent creature into the biblical Leviathan that once terrorized the world. Able to shatter steel and granite as easily as it can melt the strongest containment shields, Leviathan escapes from its pen and is loose in a vast underground chamber harboring soldiers and scientists.

The installation cannot allow Leviathan to reach the surface. For if Leviathan reaches the world, it could well be the end of the Earth. They must hold the line, here, and destroy it… even if they must detonate a last-chance nuclear failsafe built into the chamber itself. But, first, they must fight with every weapon at their disposal to discover if the beast can be killed at all.

For Crichton, I would vote Prey, Micro or Congo

But also!! Check out Natural Selection by Dave Freedman : its maybe a little corny but I really enjoyed it. It’s basically about a marine species that is rapidly adapting in a dangerous way for humans
