Making this request for a friend who has watched every drama currently airing on television and doesn’t want to read something she’s already watched. Looking for a book that focuses on drama (family drama, courtroom drama, etc.) where the main character has to overcome obstacles. Something where the characters all have pasts and you get to learn about them and how they affect the current narrative. Would be nice if there was a romance, but it’s not necessary. Enemies-to lovers-type relationships are good. Modern time period preferred but historical fiction is okay too. No fantasy, no supernatural elements, no sci-fi. Please nothing with graphic descriptions of sexual assault.
She’s mostly a TV watcher and stuff she’s enjoyed in the past include Maxton Hall and Parenthood. She also really liked Outlander but is looking for something without fantastical elements.
