I'm looking for puzzling whodunnits with surprising twists that only make sense in retrospect. Books that make you go "Whaaaaa!?…It was right in front of me all along!" And make you want to go back and re-read it from the beginning.
Some books I've read that fit this are: The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, The Decagon House Murders, The Twyford Code, and many of Agatha Christie's more iconic works (not mentioning by name because of spoilers.)
For these suggestions, I'm not looking for cozy murders or detective series or police procedurals. More like stand-alone mysteries that can't be duplicated. Bonus points for playing with character viewpoints, narrative structure, or other creative twists, as long as they make sense.
