    I just finished The Book Thief yesterday – loved it.

    When to the library yesterday to find something else and I got All Systems Red #1 in the Murderbot Series. I'm only two chapters deep so I don't have many opinions. I heard it was good and I wanted to switch genres up so I don't get bored.

    I also checked out The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo that I will likely read next.

    What books are you currently reading & do you like it so far? What do you plan to read next?

      Currently reading {{A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon}} it’s the prequel to The Priory of the Orange Tree – meh, I keep kinda drifting I’m about 40% of the way through it and I’m not really sure what’s happening. I wanted to pick up The Priory of the Orange Tree after to keep the series going but not sure anymore.

      I might break it up with a horror novella {{Fever Dream by Samanta Schweblin}}

      I loved girl with the dragon tattoo, great addictive book/series.

      I’m currently reading both The Cancer Journals by Audre Lorde and A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers.

      The Cancer Journals is great so far, but incredibly heavy. A Closed and Common Orbit has been enjoyable but I’m not liking it as much as I liked the first book in the series.

      Next on my list is Piranesi by Susanna Clarke.

      I’m currently reading Weyward by Emilia Hart. It’s a bit of a palate cleanser for me, but not too light. The story is told from the perspectives of 3 related women in 3 different periods of time. I am really enjoying it.

      My next read is Where The Jessamine Grows by Donna Everhart, historical fiction about a woman who opens her North Carolina farm to soldiers from both sides of the Civil War. I’m very much looking forward to it.

    4. The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett, and it’s very fun. I would like to read some more Discworld but I have a load of other stuff in my collection I need/want to read before I restart my studies.

      The Sudden Appearance of Hope by Claire North. I’m looking for the same spark that was in the last fifteen lives of Harry August. Good story with a lot of serious themes that aren’t overstated.

      Currently reading:

      1. {{Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica}} – Reddit recommendation and enjoying so far though pretty bleak.

      2. {{Tress and the emerald sea by Brandon Sanderson}} – listening to audiobook with my partner as we started it on a longish trip, so grabbing a bit of time here and there to continue. Light and frothy and fun.

      Up next tbd but on the shortlist:

      1. Outline by Rachel Cusk

      2. The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi

      3. These Women by Ivy Pochada

      Currently rereading Dune and will move to rereading Messiah after. Listening to Red Rising audio book on my commute. Want to listen to Hyperion by Dan Simmons next. Sci-fi is really hitting for me right now

    8. I’m listening to the Gibson Family series by Anna Jacobs, it’s suiting the mood nicely after a run of detective thrillers.

      I think next it’ll either be one of the long books recommended on a thread here lately or a different series, maybe Jeremy’s Run by G. F. Gustav or Arliss Cutter by Marc Cameron.

      The long titles I noted (and are available to me) are

      * Colleen McCullough – The Thorn Birds

      * Dan Simmons – The Terror

      * George Eliot – Middlemarch

      * James A. Michener – Chesapeake

      * Lucy Ellmann – Ducks, Newburyport

      * Vikram Seth – A Suitable Boy

      I enjoyed The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series, though it took me about 5 tries to get started. I’m glad I persevered.

      Currently reading book 4 of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman

      My next book will either be Dark Matter by Blake Crouch or The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America by Erik Larson

      I can’t remember which is at the top of my to read pile, but know it’s one of those 2.

    10. Reading *Jane Eyre* now. Not sure what I’ll do next. Maybe *Project Hail Mary* for a good change of pace. Or maybe *Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead.*

      Current read : Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix

      Next read : Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 😂😂

      Listening to the audiobooks for the first time and it’s definitely become my favourite way to enjoy them. Stephen Fry is amazing

      Been reading such *meh* books lately, it’s nice to cleanse my reading palette with something I know and love

    12. Currently reading Jingo by Terry Pratchett – part of the Discworld series, which I’ll follow with The Fifth Element.

      I also have Lauren Graham’s memoir to read next, which was loaned to me by a friend who’s a fellow Gilmore Girls fan.

      Sounds like you’ve got a good thing going. I liked all three of those books that you mentioned.

      I’m currently reading:
      – Fiction: Last night I finished *All Fours* by Miranda July. Definitely the most sex I’ve read this year. Good book, four stars.
      – Nonfiction: *Self-Compassion* by Kristin Neff. Therapist recommendation.
      – Short Stories: *Best American Short Stories 2019* Always a good time.

      Today I’m going to to start *In The Meantime* by Hernan Diaz. I really liked *Trust* when I read it last summer so I had the library bring this one in for me.

    15. Currently reading **Service Model** by Adrian Tchaikovsky.
