I love books about kids or teens exploring, whether by themselves or others, usually in the forest. I personally love the forest myself. I admit I don't read on a very high level, usually my books are rated for older kids or younger teens, though I do understand some things such as Edgar Allan Poe (that's about the only author that uses fancy words that I understand, so I prefer something a bit easier to read.) Some books I like similar to this theme is The Miraculous by Jess Redman and Snapdragon by Kat Leyh. I love a hint of something supernatural or mythical to my adventure books. Just kids enjoying their adventure with a hint of mystery and trauma on the side. It's not a book, but I've always wanted a book that gives Yaelokre vibes. I also do love myself an animal companion though it's not required, being in nature is wonderful enough. (Sorry if this post seems a bit dry this is my second time writing this after losing all my progress the first time. If you have any questions be free to ask them)

    1. My Side of the Mountain is great book I loved as a kid and just introduced to my son. He’s obsessed with reading the sequels now.

    2. If you’re into books about kids adventuring in the forest, you might like *Down the Long Hills* by Louis L’Amour. It’s about two siblings, Hardy and Betty Sue, who end up in the wild after their wagon train is attacked. They have to navigate the forest and survive on their own, which makes for an epic adventure.

It doesn’t dive into the supernatural, but it’s full of action and challenges, and the way they handle it all is really gripping. Plus, there’s a loyal horse that adds to the adventure. The writing is straightforward and engaging, so it’s perfect if you like something easy to read but still exciting.

Definitely check it out if you’re into survival stories with a touch of wilderness!
